In 2006 I found the amazing work of Phillip Toledano. Since then he has done even more outstanding work. I was more then touched by his personal work “Days with my father”. (Unfortunately I cant show you the images as they are not down loadable… I know I could screen grab them, but I rather prefer to send you to his link. Every time I showcase a photographer, I also introduce myself, to make sure, it is fine to use their images).
The images below are from KayLynn Deveney and they reminded my of Phillips work. The images are an outstanding dairy of this lovely couple who have been married for over 70 years. I admire KayLynn for being able to take these images. Her other series “The Day-to-Day Life of Albert Hastings” is also very tender.
I live in Australia and my family is in Germany, so when my grandmother was close to dying I went home to be with her. I often imagined myself taking images of her fragile but also lovely state, but I am not sure if my family would have understood. I guess, I could have asked, but I was not brave enough to stand behind the camera and take those last images.

Last week I finally bought a digital camera and have been exploring the digital age. It was not an easy transition, but I am slowly getting used to my new camera. As you might have noticed, I love taking blurry photos. I remember when I bought my Hasselblad… I took a lot of blurry photos and after I showed them to my brother, he only asked my why I spent so much money on my camera if only take blurry photos. It made me giggle to no end – and I love him for it. Well these are the first test to test how blurry this camera can go.

These images are from Alejandro Cartagena series “Lost Rivers”. I found them a while ago, but never got around to showing them.

It has been a while again, but I am currently creating a new series for an upcoming exhibition, so time kind of disappears … Schattenseite is one of my favorite series by the talented Sebastian Lemm. Some of his work is currently showing at the Michael Mazzeo Gallery in New York. Looks like an amazing show, so if you are in NY make sure to go and see it.

We have currently 7.3°C in Melbourne, and if I put the heater on max I can almost imagine myself at Christian Chaize’s beach in Portugal. How lovely are these images? I have to confess I do not often see prints I wish to own, but one of these would be a delight for cold days – well any day. I found myself searching the images and looking for the same umbrella or towel. I especially like the more yellow ones (maybe cross processed) of his beach scenes. The first two images are also for sale through 20×200. On his statement he also has this great quote: “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” Marcel Proust.

I have been collecting dried plants and flowers for a while now and the pile is getting bigger and bigger. Ohh so many ideas but… ohh soo little time. So whenever there was a bit of sun, I sneaked into the backyard and arranged my little treasures waiting for delicate shadows to appear. Now in my etsy store.
